XPS-M1730 SLOW KEYBOARD PCMSERVICE.EXE

Hello,

I just got my new XPS-M1730 running Win_XP. Everything is fine, my conversion process is done and went perfectly. The only problem is when I type on the keyboard, it is very slow for characters to appear on screen ! On Word, Excel, Internet and even on this blog ! Anybody aware of this problem on that machine !

I am running the wireless dell mouse (bluetooth) but not the external wireless dell keyboard, but using the integrated actual keyboard of the machine.

I have tried an external usb keyboard: same problem.

Running Win-XP in safe mode solved the problem !

So, it seems that there is some software not running well on the machine. It would be nice to know wich one.

UPDATE-I: PCMSERVICE.EXE (DELL MULTIMEDIA) HAS TO BE DESACTIVATED... PROBLEM SOLVED. IT SEEMS THAT DELL MULTIMEDIA (3.5) IS FIT FOR VISTA AND NOT WINDOWS-XP. DELL SUPPORT ADVISED.

UPDATE-II: USE TASK MANAGER FOR TEMPORARY (AFTER BOOT) DESACTIVATION - USE MSCONFIG (RUN) FOR PERMANENT DESACTIVATION (AT BOOT)

Hi

I can confirm the exact same problem on my XPS-M1530 using laptop keyboard

Thanks Marcel for diagnosing it

I killed pcmservice.exe from taskmgr and it has started behaving.

Note I had the problem on Vista 32
