You need to format the disk before using it

Have two identical laptops, purchased at same time, same spec, same software (Latitude E6520).

One of them reads this Kingston USB memory stick fine, the other gives the above message.

The memory stick is formatted as FAT32.

Do not understand why one laptop can see it, but the other cannot.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Something might be wrong with the stick. I would advise copying any data from it from the computer that can read it. 

Use the HP Format Tool (run as administrator on Windows Vista/7).

Thanks, I'll give that a go. Just thought this was a quirky issue!  Any reason why I should use the HP tool as opposed to letting Windows 7 format it (with NTFS obviously)?

I have personally found it to be better, especially when one experiences such troubles with a USB stick.
