adding memory to 15 7548 inspiron
I want to add memory to my laptop but i cannot find anywhere in the Dell manuals, or online, if I have to build equally for the 2 slots. right now I have 4GB in each of the two slots I want to boost it to 12GB . can I just replace one slot with an 8 GB?

Hi iecgrpme,
The Dell Inspiron 15 / 7547 / 7548 has 2 memory SODIMM slots on the system board. The system accepts a memory capacity ranging from 2GB, 4GB and 8GB. The memory type accepted is DDR3L 1600 MHz SODIMM only. The computer supports a maximum of 16GB of memory when installed with two 8GB DIMMs.

so are you saying that since it is the same board with 2 slots, i can take one 44444 GB memory card out and replce it wit an 8GB board so the final configuration would be a 4Gb board and an 6
8GB board for a total of 12 GB of memory and with no problem.

So, are you confirming that since it is the same board with 2 slots, I can remove one of the 4 GB memory boards and replace it with an *GB memory board so the final configuration will be a 4 GB board and an 8 GB board for a total of 12 GB and there will be no issues?
Thanks

You will lose some performance by running two different capacity modules - the system is designed for dual-channel operation, which requires matched pairs of memory for optimum performance. That said, the system will still run with 4+8.
