assessing switchable graphics via windows experience index? And also... problemos with some AMD drivers.
Hi, I have a Inspiron 15r SE 7520.
Right now, the scores for the WEI (windows experience index) are showing up lower than anticipated because it is running the WEI test through the integrated graphics (Intel (R) HD graphics 4000) which is a nutter! I understand that its because the integrated card is the primary one... but is there anyway I can assess the dedicated graphics card (AMD Radeon HD 7730m) through WEI?
Is there a way to turn off the integrated card and have things running fully on the dedicated card? (and vice versa - ie, is it possible for me to have more control over which graphics card is in use?) Even if it's not an immediate possibility, what are the chances that I can have some sort of option like this in the future?
ALSO!
A separate issue, none of the drivers seem to work for the AMD card except for the one on the packaged CD that came with my new laptop. It's a quick fix but whenever I update or install any other driver, I can't open the "Catalyst Control Center" and pretty much, the AMD card becomes useless. I have tried downloading both the drivers from the Dell's support page and the AMD website. Both were no good. And yes, in all instances I did a clean uninstall of the drivers before I tried a new one.
I think once, I just installed the driver on the CD, things were going well then my comp updated itself and gave me a crappy driver, so i had to fix it, again, which was a pain! :emotion-18:

You can run winsat (the windows experience index) with switching graphics - set the control panel to use it for that program.
Generally, you're stuck with the original drivers with switching graphics until Dell releases new ones.

It's done through the Catalyst (Switchable graphics) control panel. You should see the WEI listed once you've run it once - change it to run with the AMD GPU.
