battery information please
when i got my new Dell laptop I gave my old one to my daughter.
i had a new battery in it at that time
She says it will not work on battery alone
Here is the question: she called a "GEEK" person and was told that if she leaves her laptop connected to a household current source [ which we all do when not traveling] it will "kill" the battery. Where is the truth in that????

I've known that to happen. I now make a forcefull effort to actually disconnect the power lead when I'm not using it.
But there is some truth in that statment as I have seen it happen.

Holding the battery at 100 percent charge or leaving it un used for months at a time so that the charge level goes down to Zero will make the battery die. Charging to at least 50 to 80 percent then leaving out of the laptop is the recommended storage process. Batterys are warrantied for 1 year whether you use them or not.
Longest life is seen from batteries that are neither fully charged or discharged and kept in a cool dry place.
Must be float charged 1 time per month. Usually last for 300 to 500 full cycles max.
