blank screen while hibernatin

Hi,

I have a dell studio 1555 laptop. It came with Vista and I upgraded to Windows 7, but the problem happens since the very first day in Vista and is still there in Win 7.

When I try to hibernate the laptop, I got a blank (actually, black) screen, instead of the progression bar I'm expecting. After some time, to mee too long (minutes?), it hibernates successfully and the power is turned off.

Maybe some clue: can't get any boot menu neither. When I press F12, the progress bar stalls. If I press space, F12, then space again, the progress bar continues, but the screen goes black for some time (1 minute?), after which Windows starts. I never see any boot menu, the screen is black.

Dell support tells me to restore my whole system. I have a lot of applications, and I don't have the time to reinstall. And I'm reluctant, since I don't think it'd change anything as the notebook had this problem from the very beginning, with a fresh system. I must admit I lost the original cd, so they couldn't test the hardware.

Hello,

I do have the exact same problem, start at begining after upgrade to Windows 7. No time to reinstall until recent. but after reinstall Win7, the problem still existing. Tried to email Dell, been told the 1 year hardware warranty just passed... and there is no Win7 32bit driver at all on the support/driver download site! waited for half year, seems people all busy on something else. still have to find some driver from other model... what a nice thing to try & error. too far to compare the service Lenovo provided.
