core 2 duo vs. duo core

i am looking to buy an e1505 and i dont know what processor speed to get. i am looking for the most bang for the buck. i do alot of video editing, and i dont know whether to go with the 1.6 ghz core 2 duo, or the 1.73 core duo. i'm not even sure if there is a difference between them. basically, i am looking for how much better the core 2 duo chip is, and what would give me the fastest processor speed for a decent price. thanks

The Core 2 is about 10% faster at a given speed than the Core. I'd go with the 1.6 Core 2 - it likely will give you the same performance and slightly better battery life.

Here is a benchmark that you can compare the chips on. If you can afford it I would choose the T7200 which has 2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB, more cache and a faster front side bus.
