cpu underclocking itself

Question

yea while gaming my cpu will drop 1999mhz to 1799 and my fps is cut in half and ive tried everything a user could do and still nada, it seems no one else has this prob well atleast not with a 5650 gfx, im stumped anybody got any suggestions

It's probably overheating and downclocking as a protective measure.

That limit is what the CPU will take before it fries. Dell imposes a lower temp limit in the BIOS so the rest of the parts in the notebook don't fry. It's kind of like the RPM and speed limiter on my truck. It won't go over 6000 RPM's or 100MPH which ever comes first.

yep the odd thing is why is it underclocking at 78c when its limit is 115
