cursor moving around when typing

Question

July 2012 my laptop 5030 the cursor started moving around when typing emails and word documents (doing it now as I type).  I have tried several postings from 2009 but nothing has worked.  I am unable to disable the touch pad also I taped a piece of aluminum foil over the touch pad, which did not work.  I had to stop using my laptop.  My wife has ask me to get it fixed!  PLEASE HELP.
