dGPU not idle while on battery, working properly with AC (screen inside)

There is a strange problem with my new xps 15 9560, the nvidia gfx has usage spikes when on battery, but, doesnt while plugged to the wall.

Is my unit defective?

Has anyone similar problem?

Hi lugiank,

Thanks for posting.  Since you are having concerns with your NVIDIA card, perhaps you should check to see that you have the latest drivers installed.

Check your power management settings.  Generally, the nVidia GPU will be off when on battery if the power management is set aggressively.  And while you can change that, don't expect great battery runtime if you enable full GPU acceleration when on battery - the GPU is extremely power-intensive and if you try to run it extensively on battery, you'll likely see less than 2 hours on a full charge.

my power profile is set to balance, and the default GFX is the intel one

I'm with latest drivers anyway (the one with the gtx 1050 hotfix, it is 3xx.77)
