decent computer for $1500

Question

Im looking for a decent laptop/desktop for the meesily $1500 credit dell's granted me. Im really into gaming but its not a must, mostly internet access, with a bit of gaming occasionaly, mostly Wolfenstein ET. what would be even better is a laptop/desktop i can buy cheap and upgrade myself.   thanks a lot guys

You don't want a notebook. Anything you can buy for that price will require big compromises in video and/or with a short warranty, which you likewise do not want.

Look for a minimum of an E510 desktop with a decent video card - better yet, an XPS 400.
