6
Scenario
Triple Dock Will Not Work With Dell Portable Power Companion

a
Issue Triple Dock will not work when Dell Portable Power Companion (PW7015M) is connected. Tripe Dock by design does not have PSID pin implementation. Due to this when connected to the Triple Dock, Dell Portable Power Companion will auto shut off the power output after 30sec. (Triple Dock is used to charge Dell Tablets).
Solution
This is not a functional issue with Dell Portable Power Companion.

To charge Dell Tablet through the Triple Dock, users must connect Dell power adapter to the Triple Dock.

7
Scenario
Dell Portable Power companion always show 35W (as AC Adapter Type) in BIOS, for Dell Notebooks with Keyboard Base

a
Issue Dell Portable Power companion (PW7015M) always show 35W in BIOS for Latitude E7350 Keyboard Base. Dell Portable Power Companion initiates PSID communication with supported Dell Notebooks via Reset signal, to communicate the change of Power Supply state. Latitude E7350 Keyboard Base, due to its hardware architecture, cannot respond to Dell Portable Power Companion™s Reset signal. Due to this, when Dell Portable Power Companion is connected to Latitude E7350 Keyboard Base, it will always show the default status as 35W in BIOS.
Solution
This is not a functional issue with Dell Portable Power Companion.

Latitude E7350 can also be charged through its Keyboard Base, using the Dell Portable Power Companion. As an alternate solution, user can charge portables through the Keyboard Base using Dell Power Adapter shipped with their portables.

8
Scenario
Dell Portable Power companion shows pops up message inside Operating System, while a Notebook is connected (in Dell Client Power Manager)

Issue
Dell Portable Power companion (PW7015M/PW7015L) shows the alert message in Operating System (for Latitude & Rugged systems). Dell Portable Power Companion switches its PSID communication (minus 10W) to the System during normal functionality (e.g. when a USB device is connected to Dell Portable Power Companion for charging). In this case, output from the Dell Portable Power Companion to the portable is less than the wattage of the power adapter shipped with the portable. Due to this DCPM v2.0.0 will pop up with an alert message.

Image: Warning message

Solution
This is not a functional issue with Dell Portable Power Companion.

The pop up message is to alert users that an undersized adapter is connected to the portable. In this scenario the portable will consume the battery power as it is unable to draw any power from Dell Portable Power Companion.
Users can click OK on the pop up message, or to resolve this issue permanently user can update latest system BIOS from Dell support site.

Diagnostic Indicators
•When the Dell Portable Power Companion is over heated the 1st and the 2nd LED will flash interchangeably in amber and white color respectively.
•When a wrong adapter is connected first LED will glow in solid amber, until wrong adapter is disconnected or correct adapter is used.
