dell vostro 1400 touchpad

Hi there.

I have this problem. My touchpad and 2 keys below stopped working. OS on laptop is xp. When i plug in external mouse, the cursor start moving.

Is there any way to repair it, and how often touchpad break down (i never saw that before). Is that a spare part, could it buy separately and how much it cost.

THANKS a LOT for answer.

It's worth checking the connection to the touchpad:

If it needs to be replaced,

thanks for fast reply.

I am not really sure that i could do this deassembly :) but i just wish that connection is an issue because i got laptop service nearby( its not dell's but they can look if connection is loose).. i still wonder before i go to that option could be problem in software (drivers).. i did a new restore point in windows xp..so maybe it could be an issue? certainly it looks dead- either touchpad and two keys..

once again, thanks ejn63.
