desktop appears during playing cod mw3
Hi
I'm sorry for my bad english :-)
I've got a dell xps 15 with i7 8gb ram and nvidea geforce gt540m (2gb).
When i'm playing call of duty modern warfare 3, desktop appears on average every 2 minutes and it doesn't appear any advice note or popup or something like that.
When I turn down the graphicoptions, it gets better but i need to put them really low, but don't want to play with lowest details and i think it should normally be no problem for my computer to play with a better solution.
Did anybody have the same or comparable problem and was able to solve it?
Thank you for your help

If you aren't aware of Nvidia Optimus please check out my post about it that can be found on the following link.
en.community.dell.com/.../19405027.aspx
Optimus is a technology designed to save battery power and be able to switch between the low power costing Intel HD, and the discreet high power nvidia video card. A lot of games have problems as Optimus picks the Intel HD instead of nvidia to play a game.
Assigning an application or program to the Graphics Processor
Open the NVIDIA Control Panel
* Select Manage 3D Settings
* Click on the Program Settings tab
* In 1: Select a program to customize, click on Add
* Browse to the application/game and open the executable file by clicking Open
* In 2: Select the preferred graphics processor for this program, click on the tab and select High Performance NVIDIA processor
* Click on Apply and the settings will be saved
Once you have configured MW3 to use high performance, go into the game's configuration screen and make sure that it sees the Nvidia GPU and not the Intel HD. Then play the game and see if the desktop keeps popping up.
If you continue to have problems make sure that you don't have any programs running in the background while trying to play. Check and make sure that the Anti Virus isn't running a background check.
If your notebook has Fast Access facial recognition turn it off while playing the game and see if that helps.
Please let me know if this helps.
