Hi Hellovivek6,

Let try the following steps.

Drain the residual power from the laptop:

  • Disconnect any external peripherals (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) from the computer
  • Then remove the adapter
  • Remove the battery
  • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds
  • Reconnect the battery and the adapter
  • Try to restart the computer and check

I would recommend you to try to run the on-board diagnostics:

  • Power off the computer
  • Press and hold the 'Fn' key, while the button is pressed and held, press the power button
  • This should initiate the diagnostics
  • Please refer to the link if any error code shows up http://dell.to/OUGnqT

Please check if the hard drive is detected in BIOS:

  • Power off the computer
  • Restart the computer, tap 'F2' key 4-5 times
  • This will take you to the BIOS screen
  • Beside the 'Fixed HDD' option, check if any description is available or shows 'Unknown / Not detected'  (refer screenshot)

Please reply if you have any questions.

Hi Hellovivek6,

Thank you for your response. If you are unable to launch 'F12' screen/diagnostics, try an alternate way to run the diagnostics:

- Power off the laptop
- Unplug adapter cable and remove the battery
- Press and hold the power button and insert the adapter cable back in (Once inserted, release the power button immediately)
- This should initiate the diagnostics (If prompted with an error about missing battery, please ignore and move forward with the testing)
- Capture error(s) if any

Please re-check and confirm if the Fixed HDD shows as 10 GB or more.
Do you see any option as 'Unknown / Not detected' in BIOS?

Please reply if you have any questions.

Hi Hellovivek6,

Please share the result of the diagnostics. Try to run the diagnostics using the steps mentioned in my previous post. And please check the size of the hard drive in BIOS again. It is showing 10 GB or more. I would also suggest you to reset BIOS to defaults:

  • Once you are in the BIOS screen
  • Press ‘F9’ key once, highlight ‘Yes’, press ‘Enter’
  • Press ‘F10’ key once, highlight ‘Yes’, press ‘Enter’

Hope this helps.
