differences in displays

Hi
I am thinking of buying a inspiron 9400.
I would like to know the difference between the differnt screen displays
What is XGA, UXGA, SXGA, Truelife, ultrsharp.
Is Truelife only the glossy finish on a screen?
Is ultra sharp the resolution.
I see Dell sells a Ultra Sharp w/ no true life - can someone explain this

17 inch Wide Screen XGA+
Integrated Intel®  Graphics Media Accelerator 950

Optional:
17 inch UltraSharpTM  Wide Screen UXGA with TrueLifeTM
256MB ATI MOBILITYTM RADEON®  x1400 HyperMemoryTM  2

Thanks you for any input

First off, please don't crosspost.

TrueLife is just a glossy finish over the screen. I think UltraSharp is just referring to the WUXGA display.
WXGA, WSXGA, and WUXGA are resolutions. WXGA is 1280x800, WSXGA is 1680x10??, and WUXGA is 1920x1200

To see the difference between resolutions, see if there is either a Dell kiosk in a nearby mall or go over to your local B&M electronics store and take a look at the notebooks they have to get a feel for different resolutions.

Integrated intel graphics = ABSOLUTELY NO GAMING.

If you want to play games, the MR X1400 is the lowest card you should pick, and realistically, you should go for the 7900GS if you can.

Thank you for the information.

if I undrstand this correctly then

Truelife is just the glossy finish, nothing to do w/ resolution

Ultra Sharp has better resolution that the standard XGA

Yes, that is correct. True Life is the glossy display. Ultra sharp is more of a marketing term. The thing to focus on with resolution is whether it say WXGA+ (1400 x 900 in a 17" panel) or WUXGA. WUXGA is the higher resolution, which you may or may not have trouble reading since the text size will be smaller.
