display power off shortcut

haven't found a way to turn off the display (not just blank it with a black screen saver, but actually power it off) without waiting for a preset amount of time. i used to be able to do this on my old thinkpad. any programs, bios settings, or other settings/shortcuts anyone knows of? thanks.

right, i have a latitude d600.
