Hi Morganae,

I'm encountering the same issues as you do.
I also tried replacing the webcam today by a new spare part from dell and it is still not showing up whether in Bios nor in the system manager.

But the built in microphone of the webcam is working fine.

So I got no idea at all for solving that issue...

This is pretty straight forward, I only wish the fix were so.

The laptop is a Latitude E6410 with an integrated Webcam.  All you need to do, to see if it has a webcam is:

1) Look for a square between the two speakers holes at the top of the lid.  The square will have a small circle next to it.

2) Remove the bezel from the screen and where that square is, there's a webcam.  Where the small circle is, is a blue LED.

If you have met both of these, congratulations, you (like me) have an integrated webcam!  Huzzah!

Also helpful is that the webcam worked previously, very nice evidence.

It also helps to be certified to work on this machine (like me), which is also helpful.

I have verified the webcam works by plugging it into another E6410 that I have (I have 25 of these).  Behold, the webcam works!  So the cam is not the issue here.

The drivers are not the issue either, it's a fresh windows load using the recovery disk that came with the computer, (prepping it for retirement) and I've not loaded anything else on it yet.

Here's the part that everyone appears to be overlooking.  It's not in the BIOS anymore.  It's really weird.  I usually have the webcams on our laptops disabled due to the users privacy concerns.  (And I really get tired of peeling tape off the bezel)  I went in to the BIOS on this laptop, and checked Enable Webcam under System Configuration then Miscellaneous Devices.  I then reboot the computer and unlike the other laptops that I have setup, this one didn't detect new hardware and thus never installed the driver.

I tried to manually load the driver but it says that there's no compatible hardware.

I took the webcam to a known working machine and installed it there and it worked just fine.

I then came back, wiped the partitions, formatted the HDD, reloaded Windows 7 32bit from the provided recovery disk and on a hunch I checked the BIOS.  This time the webcam wasn't even an option!

OK update:

As I type this, I went back into the BIOS to note in this update the devices that were listed... The webcam is back!  WTF?

It's been missing for days, it was missing not 5 minutes ago, and now it's back and unchecked.  I am now returning the checkmark (It's kinda fun typing this is real time), applied and exited (I also disabled the NIC and Diskette Drive from the boot sequence since it hasn't a floppy drive and we don't use the NIC option).

Windows is now booting up and... POOF Integrated Webcam is in the device manager.  I am loading the Dell Webcam Central for Business disk now....  and everything works fine.

What causes this?  It's not anything loaded in Windows, the BIOS is independant from the OS.

BIOS version is A16.

NAUSHADAKHTAR

I am sorry to say that the system mentioned was not ordered with a webcam.  This was listed in the system warranty.

313-9293 NO CAMERA, W/MIC, LAT E64

I wish that I had better news, but no the system doesn't have a webcam.
