ethernet controller error message

Inspiron 600m: Just after my warranty expired last week (how perfect is that?), I began getting an error message that new hardware was installed, but no driver found (I have not installed anything). I have a wireless printer and internet access installed. After doing some exploring, I found  a yellow question mark showing for Ethernet Controller.

I have tried reinstalling the driver but get a message that the driver cannot be found. I searched and searched on Dell, but cannot fix this. Every time I restart my laptop, I get this message that I need to reinstall the driver. Please advise! And thank you in advance :emotion-1:

Dell's Re-installation CD for 4700 has no driver for ethernet controller and there is no driver either on the Dell downloads page.

Seems no way to contact company to obtain a replacement for their ori ginally supplied faulty CD - asking Trading Standards for help unless anyone here knows?

I have been having the same problem for months. Hopefully someone will know.

The Inspiron 600m can have one of two Ethernet controllers - a gigabit or a 10/100 megabit.  To determine which, visit support.dell.com and enter your service tag.  Choose Original Configuration for the list of hardware.

Then download and install the correct driver:
