external drive caddy

is the Dell 023MRD external drive caddy compatible with the latitude cpx? is there any external connector that will work with cd-rw, dvd-rw, or hdd modules for the cpx?

i am not asking about the floppy cable which will not work for the other drives.

The only external connector I know of that works with the CPx is the USB 1.1 port.

thank you for your reply although i am not sure i understand what you are saying.

when you speak of the usb connector, are you talking about using external usb drives?

i am asking about the exchangable modules you can buy for the cpx that can be slid into the laptop or used in the dock.

for instance, i can have my floppy, my dvd-rw, and an extra hdd module attached all at the same time (i rarely do, but its nice to be able to.)

what i want to know is if there is a cable that i can use for the other drives/modules. i see lots of external drive cables for sale that include an external drive caddy. they are always listed for other dell laptops, some of which show up on my list as using the same parts as the cpx. (again, for instance, i recently purchased a hdd module that was listed for a "cp". referring to my list of comparable parts, i figured that it would work with the cpx, and it does!)

The only external drive that plugs into the parallel port of the CPx is the floppy. You can use a C/Dock or C/Dock II with this laptop and use any media bay drive in the bay of the dock (No that's not from an Otis Redding song...)

You can hook up CDs, DVDs, etc through the USB port, just not C-Series drives.

The CPx is a nice laptop, and I used one for many years before getting a Precision M50. I would still be using it if I had not received an M70 along the way. (Heck, I still prefer some things about the C-series over the D's especially the docking situation...)
