before you do anything, have you tried running a full up to date virus scan and anti-spyware programs?

you can get a free on-line AV scan from http://housecall.trendmicro.com/uk/ and you can download the free edition a Ad-Aware 2008.

for cleaning your registry you can try http://www.ccleaner.com

to view your hardware, look in device manager and note what hardware needs specific drivers to download from dell as some of your devices will use windows built-in drivers.

If your using a dell go to the drivers and downloads page: http://support.euro.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=gen

Either select your model and or service tag. For more help tell us your model and operating system, note do not post the service tag here.
