THANKS,
I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY DELL HAS TWO DIFFERENT 1545 MANUALS. ONE THEY SHIP AND ANOTHER ONE ONLINE THAT IS DIFFERENT.

I read Irish2009's post. I'm not sure if he meant that the laptop can take up to a total MAX of 4GB or if it can handle 4GB module, therefore being able to put 2x4GB.
Thanks.

Max is 2X4 = 8G (subject to running a 64-bit version of Windows; the system shipped with 32-bit Windows so it's likely that would need to be replaced).

Ok, I'm pulling this old topic from the dust. I have an old Inspiron 1545 that I want to upgrade the RAM.
I have the same question. The manual which is available online ( ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_inspiron_laptop/inspiron-1545_setup%20guide_en-us.pdf ) page 57
does specify that 8GB is a possible memory config. However, no 4GB ram module is available on the Dell part list.
Any new information since 2009? Someone from Dell can provide information?
Thanks

Ok, thanks, that make sense, I didnt tought about the limitation of a 32bits OS.
I guess I will have to leave it like that :)
Cheers!

Ok, I finally verified, and the installed OS is 64 bits, so it could handle the 8GB.
The memory for sale on the link posted by Irish is way to expensive (probably Worth more than the laptop itslef). Didnt find anything else.
Someone have any tips?
