Luvmydell,

I'm heavy handed so I have to turn off laptop touchpads and use an external wireless mouse, otherwise the cursor jumps all over the place when I'm typing.  Specifically, I've seen this problem occur on a Lenovo laptop that had one of those little joystick thingies between the G and H keys.  It turned out that the pressure-sensitive foam assembly under the joystick was pressing down on a small cable underneath it.  I loosened the center keyboard screw on the bottom of the case and the problem went away.  Might be something similar on the 1525's touchpad assembly.

Sometimes the pad sensitivity can be adjusted to minimize the problem, which is caused by dangling fingers when typing. A better solution is the free utility TOUCHFREEZE. This free program shuts down the pad when you begin typing.

Not an answer I know but I've got a similar problem on my 1011 but only when typing online, no problem with other applications but a nightmare when keying in log on details and passwords etc ( or typing in online forums !) I'm convinced the problem is not related to the touchpad as I now type with extreme caution and have seen the cursor jump off line ( and sometimes off screen) for no reason. I've logged the problem on this forum but so far no answers. I've also sought help on the Computeractive forum but again without success, although someone did suggest that it might be browser related so I tried Chrome instead of IE9 but the problem remains. If I get to the bottom of it I'll get in touch and I'd be grateful if you would let me know how things go at your end.

I uninstalled the keyboard and allowed it to reinstall itself in the shutdown and it seems to be working well....try it!

Thanks for posting back with the results of your driver installation.  It helps everyone reading these posts if they know what works and what doesn't.

Hello, I just posted this issue a moment ago under....Inspiron Dell 5030 Keyboard Something something. Can you direct me to the driver to download. And will it work with my dell 5030? Is a touchpad the same as a keyboard?

Sorry, I decided to get my exact thread title.

"Impossible to type with Inspiron Dell 5030 Laptop keyboard. Please help."

Thank you in advance for telling me where to get the keyboard driver to replace mine.

I know the keyboard can give you the blues when it isn't working.  i went to dell.com and scrolled down to the bottom of the page to support and clicked on drivers and downloads and saw the icon for the keyboard and downloaded the updated driver for the keyboard and I tell you I haven't had a problem with it since I downloaded it!  Please keep me posted.
