Then they werent CPXJ"s More likely C600 or C610 INSPIRON 8000/8100 Series or they are total fraud and they take your money and you get ripped off.

CPXH only supports NON SPEEDSTEP MMC2 If you put in a 650 it runs at 500. If you put in an 850 it runs at 700mhz. Not worth it imho.

CPXJ supports up to 850MHZ MMC2. They never made a 900 OR 1GIG MMC2 chip.

I still find 850'S on ebay for $130 or so but you can get the whole thing for the price of selling your old and getting one that comes with 1GHZ or faster cpu.

Just my opinion mind you but I think a Valid one.

thanks for the response. i knew i had seen discussions on 850mhz, but never over that. but i swear, in the past week, i have seen 4 that were listed as J's sold.  the speeds were 1-1.5ghz and i wondered if they were putting the processor from a C series into a CPx.

note: the vendors did not respond to my questions, and now i know why. :smileyvery-happy:
