letter keys showing numbers instead

This has happened before and I know there is an easier fix than to take out my keyboard.  The j k  l m u i o keys are now showing numbers instead.  This is on my old inspiron 2500 after my granddaughter pulled off the shift key and I put it back on.  Does anyone know how to get those keys back to normal?

As I stated before I know it is simple and I have tried looking through posts but cannot find the solution.

I goofed.  I thought the keypad would generate numbers if Num Lk was on.  I was wrong.  You still have to press the Fn key to generate numbers (!), so I don't have a solution for you after all.

You have the Num Lock turned on (The padlock with the "9" in it is lit up).  Turn it off by holding down the Fn key and tap the F11 key.

It was the number lock key that did the trick.  Evidently when my granddaughter pulled off the shift key she also pushed down the number lock key.  I knew it had to be something easy.  I am ashamed I did not notice it before I panicked.
