Have you gone into Windows Media Player and ensured that the LightsFX is turned on there?

It's under Visualizations.

Thanks, that has sorted it (3 effects to choose from).  Perhaps some instructions with the computer on how lightfx works would have been nice, although finding this forum has been very usefull.

Hello Forum,
its also my first post,
and i have the same problem.
I can´t get my LightFX work with Media Player.
Can you tell me which version of Media Player you use
and how you have managed to get it working.
When i recieved my XPS M1710 in Dec. i read this forum, downloaded
quickset A041 and - it works. (I dont know which Media Player i used at this time 10 or 11)
But soon i had to set my system new because i want to have more than one partion on my hdd.
And since that time i cant get it to work. I have also installed the complete system new 2 times,
but nothing happens.
In Quickset the option Media Player can be ticked, but every time i click "apply" the ticked box is getting blank.
So i hope you can help me.
I hope i have made my problem clear because my english is not so good.
Greetings Barry

Hi, regarding the lightfx, Ive gone to windows media player and looked in the visualisation area, but couldn't see how to switch the lightfx on or configure with the wmp. Could someone please (and in easy to understand english) explain how do I sincronize my Lightfx on the dell xps gen2 to my window media player? Help!!

You have to check in QuickSet that LightFX is enabled in media player. There's a check box there. After that, a menu should appear in media player visualisations with three options.

Try running QuickSet in XP compatibility mode.

I don't have Vista, so I can't tell you how to do it. I just read somewhere that QuickSet works in Vista with the compatibility mode.

Sorry, I don't know what the problem might be then. For me the 'enable touchpad LED' checkbox doesn't remember it's setting.
