mini 10 received is not same design as ordered one...
I recently bought a mini 10 through the online store. The mini 10 in the gallery was the new version (?) with the case design where the screen's bottom edge is flush with the back of the netbook when viewed from above with the screen closed, and the silver palm rest, like in these images:

http://images.wikio.com/images/s/571/photo-dell-inspiron-mini-10.jpeg
However, the copy i received is the design with the the "ledge" behind the screen mount, the black palm rest, and the white base edge, as in this image:

I am now wondering if the images on dell's site were incorrect, or if I was sent the wrong netbook. Also, this disparity between the ordered product and the received product does not exactly inspire confidence. It is not obvious which model came first, and so what the situation is with my copy. I saw both designs online when searching for "dell mini 10" but I assumed that the ordered product would match the images on dell's website.
Any explanation would be very appreciated.
Thanks!
Daniel

Looking at the Dell images on their web site shows, according to your description, exactly what you got. If you looked at something on a non-Dell purchasing web site that can be either discontinued models or possibly a special model made for retail sales such as through Best Buy or HSN. The only "real" description is what is on the Dell sales site. THIS is what is shown on the site.
If you are in the US, Dell has a 21 day from the date of the Invoice to call Customer Service and request a return authorization if you are not happy with the purchase.

The first 2 pictures shown look like the first generation Mini 10 (1010 - Z series Atom & HDMI port) and your last picture is the third generation Mini 10 (1012 - N450 series Atom) -- and you missed a picture of the second generation Mini 10v (1011 - N270/280 Series Atom). Fortunately for you, the 1012 has the Pine Trail N450 (lower power consumption, same clock speed) as the other units. And fortunately for you the memory is a tad bit easier to get to on the 1012 than the 1011/10v. In addition, the 1012 has the option to utilize the Broadcom Crystal HD Decoder (assuming your board had at connection as it appears there is a motherboard with and without the connection).
When you have a moment, take a look at the "mydellmini" site -- while I have no affiliation with them, there are plenty of users with different configurations of this little gem.
