nv4_disp infinite loop error while playing Halo
While playing Halo on my Dell Insp 8600, I get the following error:
The driver nv4_disp for the display device \Device\Video0 got stuck in an
infinite loop. This usually indicates a problem with the device
itself or with the device driver programming the hardware
incorrectly. Please check with your hardware device vendor
for any driver updates.
I have done the following to attempt fixing it with no results:
-Updated the NVIDIA GeForce4 4200 Go (Dell Mobile) driver to 6.14.0010.4482
(dated June 2003)
-Reflashed the video bios
-Reflashed the Bios to bring it up to version A03
Additional notes:
I've installed directx 9.0b. Running dxdiag shows no problems whatsoever

I know your pain jgacad, i recently posted about my new 5150 with the GeForce FX Go5200 having the same problem with newer games, call of duty, halo and unreal tourament 2003. There are many ways to get round the problem but i dont think there is a long term solution.
Firstly i would make sure it's not getting too hot, install i8kfan gui and watch the temperatures with a game open and running. Secondly i would make sure you have the latest bios and also take a look at getting the 53.03 drivers with a modified .inf file, there's a whole thread on it somewhere. Hope that helped.
