overclocking the geforce fx go 5200...

Hiz ppl,

I've been playing far cry and been using the low setting for a long time, and i was very surprised that the graphic for the game was just mediocre since there was a lot of hype about this game, until i saw on certain sites the realism of the levels and i probed under video and realised that i can turn the setting all the way to very high.. however, that would create a SERIOUS lag in gaming.. hence i thought of overclocking my card.. does anyone know the best safest clock and memory speed? thanks..

i've tried upping it until i reached 230/507 and my 3dmark03 score is 1500, is that a good result? i'm not sure about the temperature of the agp card and if it'll kill the card before its time by overclocking it to that standard.. however, the previous config of 196/392 is seriously lame.. far cry only runs low and will lag seriously if i increase the setting..

The best speed for your card is dependent on your card. Basically, keep upping it insmall increments until you get display corruption, then back it down a notch or two.

I can get 225/525 stable. Much above that and I start getting artifacts so you are pretty much at the best you can be with that card. I score around 1600 on 3DMark 2003 and around 7900 in 3DMark 2001SE. Unfortunetly there is no faster card for the 5150. The 5200 would be much better if dell clocked it at the nvidia spec of 300/600 but for whatever reason (not heat since 225/525 is no challenge) dell clocked it very low. Some pics of the 5150 are around with a fan in the middle rear instead of the vent which would allow for a faster video clock since the video card is behind this vent. I'd sure be willing to pay 50 bucks more for dell to have designed the laptop with a better gpu heatsink and a fan for the video card.

All of us 5150 owners pray for something faster but things don't look good in that area.

to HALO PRO-

I have personally had all 4 available cards in my 5150 and the M9 can go to 245/450 stable, while the 5200 can do to about 232/525 stable. I have a copper shim in the mail (like the 8500 users do). I will perform this mod and see where I can go. The M9 in not DX9 hardware compliant and I have found that the 5200 performs better overall.

i've just overclocked my video card to 231/462 on starstorm 56.72xq. my 3dmark03 score fell to 1346. right now i don't really dare to push the card further because i'm concerned about the heat building up.. does anyone have any tips to share on pushing the clocks of the geforce 5200? as in what kind of relativity should the two numbers have? right now, my memory speed is twice the core speed. is there any other ways to do it?
