problem playing avi files

hi everyone, i would be most grateful if someone could give me some advice on a problem i'm having playing avi files that i've transfered from my old laptop to my inspiron. when playing, the file has no video only audio.......the files have been downloaded from torrents but work perfectly fine on my old laptop........please help.

You need new video codecs (decoders actualy). try googleing for ffdshow, k-lite, ace mega codecs or whatever you like best and try one of them.
