problem with digital video port adapter.
I have an XPS 17 (L702X) I was trying to do a presentation yesterday. I plugged in the adapter I purchased to go out to VGA, DVI, and some other plug. I plugged it into the Mini-DisplayPort connector and hooked it to the VGA plug. I turned on the F1 menu and chose the extend option. My screen came up on the other screen, but then it started blinking on and off the other screen. I wound up having to use another computer to do my presentation. I had just loaned the adapter to a friend with a mack book and it worked fine for him.

Thank you for your message.
Have you tried the option of second screen only to check if the issue persists?
Try connecting to an external monitor through the HDMI connector and check if the issue persists. This will help us diagnose if there is an issue with the hardware or driver.
Try to refresh the graphics driver- Open device manager- expand – display adapter – right click on the graphics driver & click on uninstall ( do not check the box that says dele8te driver)- Restart the computer.
For my reference, please click on my Dell username & send a private message with the service tag, registered name & email address.

I am trying to take your advice. There are 2 video drivers in the control panel. One for the Intel card and one for the Nvidia card. Do I delete both?

Just the Intel driver. The NVIDIA graphics adapter in that system is a render-only device and is not connected to the display outputs, so it would not be involved in this issue.
