when i click playback devices and then configure speakers / headphones (idt high definition audio CODEC) and click  5.1 and test the sound nothing comes throught?

I guess Rajath N is busy so I will reply. Do not click 5.1. Just configure for normal stereo output, then connect your laptop and headset by whatever method is most convenient for you. The headset base will take the stereo signal and use it to create simulated surround sound that you will hear through the headphones.

Hi InfernBlaze,

Jimco is correct. Alienware M17xR3 does not have SPDIF output. You will have to use a normal 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable and connect it to the headphone out port on the laptop and to the 3.5mm In port on the headphone's transmitter.

Hi InfernBlaze,

Thank you for your reply. The Chimaera 5.1 is a simulated surround sound headset with two 50mm neodymium drivers and support for Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, and Dolby Headphone signals. It stimulates the signals obtained from the 3.5mm input into 5.1 surround. You will have to connect the cable into the 3.5mm In port and start playing the songs or games on the laptop to experience 5.1 surround sound.

According to this review of the Chimaera 5.1 wireless gaming headset for Xbox 360, the headphones only have 2 drivers (speakers) and just simulate surround sound (Dolby) so connectivity is not critical. According to the Razer Chimaera page you need an  RCA to 3.5mm cable to connect to a computer. However the review said that you can also use optical to connect to a computer. If so, the M17xR3 does have a s/pdif TOSLINK port.

Alienware M17xR3 does not have SPDIF output.

No, it does have a s/dif port, on the left side. What I was saying was that it does not matter if you use s/pdif or just use one of the analog headphone ports.
