Thank you this worked out with a card reader i was having issues with for a user. The usb generic one didn't work but i noticed if i plugged in a external card reader that it would install with a microsoft generic driver. I used that for the broadcom internal one and it work right after restart. Thanks for the help.

Bill,
Do you still have access to the standalone driver? I am the same issues on a E6400 with my DOD Common Access Card.
Thanks,
Brian

I'd love to get a copy of the driver but can't figure out how to message you my email address if you're even still active in these forums!
