Hi mrswattsy,

Please follow the steps below to unblock the touchpad software from the windows firewall.

Go to Start menu, control panel and select Windows firewall. Towards the left of the screen, please select Allowed programs. You will see a box which has a list of programs blocked. Check if Alps or touchpad is shown in the box and allow the application.

I hope this helps you

Hi mrswattsy,

I suspect the firewall setting on the antivirus software is blocking the touchpad driver. I request you to check the firewall setting of your antivirus software and check if the touchpad software is blocked. If yes, please unblock the Dell touchpad software.

Ensure that "Scroll lock" on the keyboard is not activated

I hope you find this useful

Thanks so much for your reply....  I just have the built in windows firewall on my computer and cannot find anywhere that says about the touchpad and also my keyboard does not seem to have a 'scroll lock' on it.

Would you happen to have any more ideas?

Thank you so much for your help.
