weird problem with studio 1749
my studio 1749 won't start up first thing in morning and I'm not sure if it is cmos battery not holding charge or the room not warm enough .
when I turn it on fan goes lights on panel above keyboard light up but after a few seconds it turns of and start button blinks on and off ,if I open it up and unplug the touchpad it turns on and starts up and if I leave that disconnected for half an hour with laptop plugged in then unplug laptop and plug the touch pad back in it starts up and goes fine for the rest of the day .
main battery doesn't hold more than half and hours charge so I am wondering if it is that dying over night and intern the cmos battery not holding charge when that dies or something to do with the temperature in the room or the touch pad not being seen in bois until the laptop has been started
can anyone give me a hint as to what it might be laptop is in a1 condition never been dropped bois was updated before I brought it please help

The reserve (CMOS) battery isn't rechargeable -- it's a lithium button cell. It's not the cause of the problem. You may have a faulty touchpad or a short circuit somewhere -- or, it may be indicative of a bad cold solder joint somewhere on the mainboard. First thing recommended: replace the palmrest. If that doesn't solve the problem, the next thing to replace would be the mainboard.

Thank you for your reply but I think I resolved it ,last night instead of leaving it unplugged I left it plugged in and this morning it started fine I think the main battery must discharge overnight and for some reason the laptop looses power to the touchpad until the battery starts to charge I will but a new battery ,very wierd
