windows update 8 to 8.1

You have to mention your model computer (and operating system) whenever you post a question. Make sure you use windows update to install all the important updates before trying to install 8.1. There are some updates that must be installed before 8.1. 

I would advise resetting to factory settings using your internal recovery partition and then uninstalling McAfee and running the McAfee removal tool. See here:

windows 8 64-bit (6.2,build 9200)

all windows updates are done the error pops up 0x80240031

i did the factory restore and the mcafee remove and even used the removal tool

the thing i didnt  try uninstalling few drives you mentioned

ill be back with the result hope this will work natakuc4
