AMD vs. Intel
The best in the industry at hexus, tom's hardware, and other places have done fair benchmarks between AMD's FX-60 and Intel's top processor. I don't think I even need to mention which one came out on top. Don't get me wrong, Intel makes some good processors, particularly their mobile ones. They enjoy a rather unfair bias with the large system makers, whereas others have wised up and started operating by allowing consumers the choice. Having HT isn't the same as having another core. Anyone with knowledge of computers would realize that even with two threads, one processor still has to do all the work.
An Intel of comparable price does not have the power of an AMD. Measuring processors by speed makes little sense nowdays, as there are so many external factors influencing the performance.
