If this does not help, perform a PC restore which will get the system back to factory settings. Please back up all the data before a PC restore is performed as this will cause data loss.
Advanced Audio FX Engine is part of the Dell Integrated Webcam software. Reinstalling Dell Webcam Central software should restore this program. The IDT audio driver can be installed from the Dell support site.
System Restore cannot restore all the applications and programs that have been removed. They have to be reinstalled.
If you need any further help, please provide the system model and operating system and I will be glad to help you.
Thank you very much, that was an extremely helpful reply! All I need to know now is what to do in order to reinstall it - I've been unable to find Dell Webcam Central on either the drivers and downloads page or my drivers and utilities disk.
My laptop is an Inspiron 15R N5110, and is running Windows 7 64-bit.
I'm glad to know the information was helpful. Dell Webcam Central and other software have to be installed using My Dell Downloads application. If My Dell Downloads is not installed on the system, please install it using this link:
Open the link and select the country, follow the on-screen instructions. Once My Dell Download is installed, you will have access to all pre-installed software that was shipped along with the system.
Thanks again for the great advice. My laptop doesn't have My Dell Downloads, so I followed your link to the website (making sure I was using IE9), chose United Kingdom as my country, read and accepted the License Agreement, and then pressed the 'Register System' button. I allowed the Syspro plugin to run (twice). Unfortunately, all that comes up after a few moments' freezing is 'Service Tag is not supported'. :(
Thank you yet again for your help. I think there has been a misunderstanding - I already have Dell Webcam Central on my system, and am pretty sure it's working ok. Perhaps I was wrong about the Advanced Audio FX Engine being the source of my problem, and so have wasted a fair amount of your valuable time, for which I apologise.
Let me run through my symptoms:
On the IDT Audio Control Panel, my preffered audio codec was the one listed under the Sound Blaster tab, I think it's the Sound Blaster X-Fi MB. Whenever I attempt to load it, all I get is text saying 'Loading Sound Blaster...'. Since this started happening after I uninstalled the Advanced Audio FX Engine, I assumed that that missing program was the problem.
On the Creative Software Autoupdate application, when I attempt to update now, all I get is 'Creative Software Autoupdater was unable to detect any Creative products attached to your computer.'
This is the same with the other Creative products I have on my computer; all I get when I try to run them is an error message telling me that I don't have the supported audio device.
In fact, just as I was looking over the list of things I uninstalled, I have noticed that the Sound Blaster X-Fi MB was one of the programs I removed, along with Creative Mediasource 5, Wavestudio 7, Advanced Audio FX Engine, and Host OpenAL. (I was removing all the Creative products from my system since I thought that since I already had IDT Audio to control my audio settings I needed nothing else.)
So, I suppose I should change my request from wanting to reinstall Advanced Audio FX Engine to wanting to reinstall Sound Blaster X-Fi MB.
Once again, I apologise for the time this must have wasted for you, and am so grateful for the support you have already given me.
It was a pleasure assisting you and I appreciate you working along with me to fix this issue.
The Sound Blaster X-Fi MB installation CD will be shipped along with the system if the software was ordered. I'm afraid that is the only way we can reinstall it.
Please feel free to reply if you need any further information.
That's a shame, because I didn't order it specifically; it was just there when I turned the computer on, and the only disc I have is Drivers and Utilities. I suppose performing a factory reset will work to bring it back though, wouldn't it?
Thank you for all the help you've given me; looks like a conclusion is close at hand.
I uninstalled the Advanced Audio FX Engine, along with other things, and have since realised that I want to keep it. I tried restoring my system to an earlier date, but while that returned the program in the Programs and Features list, again along with everything else I uninstalled, everything else still acts as if it isn't there, primarily the IDT audio.
I would like a way to restore this program, preferrably without having to reset my laptop to factory conditions. Thanks in advance for any help!

Advanced FX Engines are installed on my Dell M1313. It came with Vista and I have upgrade to Win7-32 bit. If I install the My Dell Downloads, will it only provide Vista downloads? I did not buy the Win 7 upgrade from Dell. Thanks, Al
Hello Al. What is the model family of the laptop? The Dell laptop families that have model numbers starting with "M" are the Precisions, the XPS, and the Alienware models, plus a few Inspirons, but I can't remember one named M1313.
Thanks for the reply, Jimco.. It is a Dell XPS M1330 notebook computer. A very nice and light machine. A little slow for these days, but upgraded to Win 7 with a big disk and max RAM. I use it a lot even though I have other computers. When I upgraded to 7, Dell seems to have washed their hands of me. Al
Yes Dell does not fully support 7 on the XPS M1330 model, but the IDT R226903 audio driver for 7 will work on the M1330.
Open the Device Manager and expand "Sound, video and game controllers". Look for "High Definition Audio Device". That is the generic native Windows driver. If you see a driver by Sigmatel you should uninstall it and check the option to delete the files, then reboot.
Download the IDT R226903 audio driver and unzip it. Go back into Device Manager to the audio controller. Right click on it and chose to update the driver. Choose to manually find the driver and don't let Windows look for it. Browse to c:\Dell\drivers\R226903 or wherever you unpacked the driver files.

Hi Chris,
Try installing the Sound Blaster X-Fi software from the vendor website:
support.creative.com/.../ProductDetails.aspx
If this does not help, perform a PC restore which will get the system back to factory settings. Please back up all the data before a PC restore is performed as this will cause data loss.
Glad to help.

Hi Chris,
Check this forum link which has several direct links to install Dell Webcam Central. I am sure at least one should work.
en.community.dell.com/.../19448019.aspx
Now that you are in United Kingdom, I do not have an option to ship the CDs. The software discs can be shipped within USA only.
