I have the same problem with a Latitude E6530, HDMI Duplicate does not work. Other modes do. Also the VGA port works in duplicate.
When I switch to Duplicate the software does not recognize the monitor connected to the HDMI port and it does not see the laptop. When I switch to extend or one of the only modes it works.
I have a similar problem with my XPS (i5 2300 @2.80GHz). I was running dual monitors (Dell S2340M) with Windows 7, but upon upgrading to Windows 10, not only can I not expand my desktop, it will not recognize another monitor (acer 19 inch). Another oddity: the screen view does not expand to the edges of the monitor. Very frustrating!
The Video Card was an add on, but was running fine on this machine and another Dell Inspiron 530.
