Charging Problem Latitude D610

Question

Hi, The battery light flashes orange, bios does not detect the battery and the laptop will only work on ac. Is this a dead battery or could there be another problem? Thanks for reading this. Lincoln

btw I have just been told that this is a new battery and that the laptop has never charged a battery or detected the battery in bios since new, so I guess it is not a battery problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

If you can get your hand on another D610 and try charging the same battery. If it work, I suspect it is a motherboard problem on your D610.
