Thank you for reaching out to us here, we appreciate your interest in our products. We would like to let you know that you would be given an option to customize on the line of products that are in production. Since the model that you are referring to is an end of life system, we request you to check our other high end machines which can meet your needs in a system like Precision, Alienware and XPS.
These are the most customisable range of Laptops and Desktops. They are also the most powerful and most expensive. However like the Alienware range are usually more bulky than the XPS and Latitude range. The Latitude Range may be more suited to what you are looking for:
The answer is no - even if you buy a used system and upgrade it yourself, you're still limited as to what you can install by the design of the system.
There are companies that still specialize in producing "whitebooks" where you can customize just about every detail. These are the smaller "boutique" builders who generally build on systems from Clevo and MSI -- such as Sager. You just won't find that level of customizability from Dell or any other of the large system manufacturers (Lenovo, HP, etc.).
