Dell Batery Module replacement - 1U515 versus 75UYF for Inspiron 8000
Hello !
I have an DELL Inspiron 8000. My old battery module has expired-not working. I have an offer to buy an DELL Battery module with P/N 1U515.
Can anybody tell me if is OK to replace an old DELL BATTERY MODULE P/N 75UYF with another one with P/N 1U515 , without any risk involved?
I am not sure if that is ok !?
The old one (75UYF) has the Rating 14.8-3800mAh , an 1U515 has rating Rating 14.8-66Wh .
Dell say's that 75UYF can be replaced only with P/N 1691P, 5081P, 3149C or 53977 .
Thanks.

The 1U515 with 66 watts is designed for the more power hungry inspiron 8200 using a P4 processor. The 8000 & 8100 both used 56 watt batteries.
The batteries physically fit inside the 8000 & 8100 laptops. Their biosses & charging electronics however are not build to deal with the extra power. The batt will work but may have a shorter life because of not adapted charging. I do recommend to use the 56 watt types for this reason. Normally you can find batteries for 8000 & 8100 easilly on ebay.
