Dell Inspiron N5110 gives Startup Repair error

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron N5110 . I purchased it in 2012 . 

It gives a "Startup Repair" error when I try to boot my machine. 

"Your computer was unable to start

      Startup Repair is checking your system for problems..."

The process goes on for a couple of minutes and then the laptop shuts down on its own.

Can someone guide me please as to what must have gone wrong and what I can start with to make it right ?
