The battery life doesn't depend on the system model. Ideally life time of a battery would be 2 years then it would surely perform to drain out quickly. However, its not necessary that it would go bad soon too. Just a quick question, is the battery completely dead or is it not charging at all? Would request you to run the quick test on Battery called the Custom test using the Dell Support Center. And if the result says to Consider replacing you battery then would suggest you buy one. Battery being a consumable product, the warranty on the battery would only be for one year from the date of invoice of the computer.
