Hi Sapper Tom,

To isolate the issue, run diagnostics on the computer.

Restart the computer by holding down the D and Power button. Let the diagnostics run and check the status of LCD during diagnostics.

I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and contact details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

If the computer has active warranty, I would arrange for a service on the computer.

Check warranty status: http://dell.to/zEE2Cm

If the system is out of warranty, I have provided a link below for the expired warranty services:

Awaiting your response!

Thanks for the reply.

I have just run a diagnostics check & everything was fine.

Warranty has gone (8 months ago)

Spec...

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

Intel Core i7 1.73GHz

2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 435M Graphics

500GB Hard Drive

4GB Memory (RAM)

Think this is a cable issue?

Thanks

Hi Sapper Tom,

This can be caused due to the LCD cable. If the cable has a loose connectivity the screen scrambles some times.

But before we come to a conclusion try reseating the LCD cable if you are comfortable in doing so.

Below link would you in reseating the LCD cable:

Ensure that the computer is turned off. If your computer did not automatically turn off when you shut down the operating system, press and hold the Power button until the computer turns off.

If the issue still persists and the warranty on the computer has expired, below link would help you in contacting expired warranty services (this is for US based customers):
