Error message "Check cable connection" when booting

I have a Dell Inspiron 3543 (i5)

The following error is shown while booting...

PXE E61: Media test failure, check cable

PXE MOF: Exiting PXE ROM

The boot sequence is

If the problem is due to boot sequence, then how to change it?

I don't see any option to change the order.

Hi das.sourav1,

Does the system boot into windows at all?

If not, Restart the system and keep tapping on f12 key and select diagnostics. Run the test and make a note of any errors that you might possibly encounter and reply with the error details.

Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - see if the HDD is detected. If not, download the service manual - http://dell.to/1jk1lzk - reseat the HDD and check if the system works fine.

If the system is under warranty, then contact us via Twitter - @dellcares - and we can help setup  a service call.

Hello Rishi,

After exiting PXE ROM the system boots. I have also run the the diagnostics test, shows everything ok.

The system is a new one, purchased it few days back.

Thanks

Sourav Das.

Hi Sourav,

Update the BIOS from support.dell.com - http://dell.to/1kGWIcI - enter the service tag and select drivers and downloads and run the BIOS update.

From the same link above, download and reinstall the chipset drivers. Restart and check if it works fine.
