Listen, I try to send you a question via reply, but I couldn't find the reply bottom anywhere. Anyway my question is this: Is it possible to reformat a laptop to Windows 8 regardless of how old or new may be? or is it possible that even a new computer may have limitations on what kind of program may use base on the firmware of the component of a laptop? I just want to know if any computer can be programmable to Windows 8 or just some but not all, regardless of age, brand or component configuration.

Hi Carlos.
My area is laptop audio. I am not qualified to answer your questions. Natakuc4 (Philip Yip) usually handles those kind of questions.
Here is my answer but understand this is not my area.
There might be hardware limitations on a really old laptop. For example I only ever ran XP on my old Inspiron 1100 because its motherboard could only take 1 GB of ram.
BIOS is a factor. If the computer manufacturer does not supply a BIOS version that supports Windows 8 on that particular model then it would not be a good idea to try to install 8.
And don't forget drivers. If Windows 8 drivers are not available for every bit of hardware and virtual device on that computer, then even after Windows 8 is installed it might be crippled in some respects.

Thank you for your answer, it has been of great help indeed. I just got some concerns about which programs I will be better of running. One thing I do know about this Dell Inspiron 3521 and that is that I can run in all the programs Windows 7. Therefore; I have chosen to reformat in the near future using Windows 7. You would be better off sticking with something like XP on that unit, it's not as resource hungry as someting like vista or 7, therefor will opperate smoother for you too.
