I have a Dell Inspiron 1501.
How can I locate the BIOS chip, it's not very visable and there aren't any chips that say BIOS on?I'm confused.

Since it cannot be removed from the board without destroying both components (chip and board) it makes no difference. They're flash EEPROM chips - if that helps you find what you're looing for.
They also tend to be mounted near the CMOS battery.

Agreeing with the other post but also why do you need to know? There is nothing you can do with it to fix anything.

Actually, I think you'll find there are services that do desolder and reprogram the chips in the UK...
And my specific system board has been worked on by this service previously
I need to know so that I can remove any components that bury the chip.
