Inspiron 1501 does not recognize battery
Whenever I start my laptop, a message appears saying that the computer cannot locate the battery and it will be unable to charge it. When I press any key to continue, I see that the battery is recognized and does charge. Does anyone know why this is happening or how I can fix it?

Unfortunately, I don't know of any other way to tell for sure whether its the battery or the computer that is acting up in this case. You may not have to buy another battery. Dells are fairly common and you may be able to find somebody else with the same model laptop as you and you can borrow the battery for the test. If it works, then you can invest in your own replacement battery.
If you laptop was bought in December, then you should be under warranty and you can call Dell tech support to get the battery replaced under warranty.

Hi , new to the forum, I have the same problem, i can't borrow a battery from anyone else and a new one
is a bit on the pricey side just to see if it sorts the fault out my dell is 12 months old so is just out of
warranty "BUMMER" and is not heavly used around 2hrs 4 times a week so the battery should be fine
any new advice would be very much appricated.
