That key to the right of the F12 key is the touchpad on/off key. It looks like a monitor screen with an X, but it's supposed to be a touchpad. The 1564 is like my 1764. The default setting for the F keys is multimedia. Use the FN with the F keys to see the secondary uses. Just try them out . FN + F3 will show the battery status. You can change the default from multimedia (volume controls, etc) to the regular F key behavior without the function key. Look this topic up in Windows Help for more info. The F1 is the external monitor key.
Thanks a lot for your reply. But when I press the touchpad on/off button, nothing happens. The touchpad still works.
Also when I use the FN key (if you mean the one to the right of CTRL) with F3, I don't see the battery status. Would you please just clarify to me a bit more from where exactly do I need to change the default of the F keys?

i have the same problem. the keys wont work to disable the functions.
